Charles Juergens, the son of Rev. Fredinand and Julia Juergens was born in Mainz, Germany on March 4, 1849, when but 4 months old he came to this country. On January 17, 1934 at one forty-five a.m. he passed to the great beyond. His span of life consisted of 84 years, 10 months, 13 days. Out of a family of 11 children, Charles was the oldest. One brother, the Rev. Henry Juergens of Cleveland, who formerly preached in Loudonville and one sister, Mrs. Anna Weber of Strykersville, NY still survive.
On the 25th day of May 1863 he was confirmed by his father in the Evangelical Church at Lowell, Washington County OH. On Dec. 27, 1876, Mr. Charles Juergens and Mary Maria Stitzlein were married, the Rev. G. Gebauer performed the ceremony. The following adorned the family, at this time: Julius Juergens of Greer, John Juergens of Big Prairie, Fred Juergens of Detroit, Michigan, Pauline Weimer, Glenmont, Louise Fockler, of Greer, Ernestine Gregg, of Shiloh, Anna Stumbaugh of Greer. Also 25 grandchildren remain.
